Comic-Con Update and Hitting a Milestone

So, the Comic-Con update is…I did not get to see the GoT panel. I got in line at 8:30 (after an aborted attempt to see the Community panel) and still could not get in! BUT I did get compliments on my sigil shirt, and I did some shopping, so it was okay. San Diego was tons of fun with good food, bars and beaches and AMAZING weather that makes me cry every time I think of it.

I was looking at my stats last night and I had hit 1,200 views, and I was all like, “crap, I missed the 1,000 views milestone” and then I was like, “That’s cool, I’ll make a post about my 1,200 views milestone.” Then I fell asleep. Then I come back today and saw that I had another 20 views today from a French GoT message board! So bonjour les Francophones! And thank you to everyone else for stopping by and taking a look at my humble blog and taking the time to comment on and share the links that you liked. You all are super!

As always, if you have a GoT craft you’d like to share, or an idea for a post, let me know in the comments. But for now, make yourself a Suffering Bastard and revel in the fact that the white walkers haven’t found you yet. Tonight, we celebrate!

Just in Time for Comic Con – A Game of Thrones Shirt!

Hey guys, remember in my last post how I was all, “OMG GoT fabric”? Well, since I will be making my first pilgrimage to Comic Con, I figured what better way to celebrate than to deck myself out in a sassy GoT shirt?

There was a whole mess of stress that went into making this shirt, including having to rush to get the fabric to me in time, settling on a shirt pattern only to have the instructions be so confusing that I gave up on them, messing up the test run of the second pattern I chose and having barely enough fabric to make the shirt (and no room for error). Luckily, the sewing of the shirt went smoothly and it looks quite spiffy, if I do say so myself.

I used the ruffle tutorial found here (minus the armholes and with the shaping) and 2 yards of this fabric. I ordered the basic combed cotton, which wasn’t as soft as I was hoping it would be, but is still pretty comfy. Like I said, 2 yards left me very little fabric left over, and not enough fabric if I needed to recut one of the pieces, so I would suggest a little more just to be on the safe side.

Note: my boyfriend arbitrarily decided to cut off my head when taking these pictures, and we didn’t have enough light to retake, so please excuse the awkward faceless pictures. It was not intentional. But nobody really cares about my face; it’s all about the shirt. Right? Right.

So, how many sigils can you spot?

Do you guys like it? It will have its debut on Saturday. I hope it will bring me luck when it comes to getting into the GoT panel.
