Blog A Heaping Spoonful has posted a list of very lovely looking GoT cocktails, and I know how much you all like those, so you guys should head on over there and check it out! It includes cocktails for everyone’s favorite troll Littlefinger and a shot called The Imp. Bonus points for GIF usage!
Is Coming Came and Now Has Decided Not Leave. So even though it’s spring, I’m still in a keeping-warm mindset. Today we’re giving some attention to a house that has been mentioned only in passing in the books: House Hightower. I’m hoping that they become more important in future books (they’re super smart and into necromancy – how have they not become more popular?), but for now, we only have a smattering of history and a sigil of a tower topped with a flame.
This pattern follows the same instructions as my Tarth armwarmer, with a different pattern, obviously. Luckily, this pattern is also simpler.
You will need: 176 white beads, 18 red beads, 9 orange beads and 3 yellow beads.
String them onto your yarn in the following order:
And this is the pattern to follow:
And stay tuned, because I should be posting more exclusive cocktails for the season 4 premiere soon!
Ever fancy a direwolf-patterned snowflake? No? Well, too bad! Krystal Higgins made patterns for making paper snowflakes for some of the major houses in GoT and they are lovely! Now if only my hands could stop shaking long enough to make those tiny cuts.
BuzzFeed put together a nice little roundup of 10 costume ideas based on the ladies of GoT. The Daenerys in Quarth, Arya and Brienne sections include links to blogs with DIY instructions.
Michele Carragher is the costume embroiderer for GoT, and her work is ridiculously detailed and amazing. You can check it out here.

I promised you more drinks, and I’m delivering, just in time for the halfway mark of the season! Here are four more cocktails focused on sidekicks from GoT. Mild spoilers for the new season.
Drinks by Clifton Hyde and Joe Peretore. If you post these elsewhere, please credit.
Jaime Lannister’s Severed Hand – Like a hand that’s been on a rope for several days, this is mostly grey cocktail with a puddle of blood at the bottom
- 2 oz reposado tequila
- 3/4 oz lemon juice
- 1/2 oz Maraschino liqueur
- Slightly less than 1/4 oz Crème de Violette
Shake and strain into coupe. Pour a small amount grenadine into the center of the glass.
Wine of Courage – A real-life fortified wine paired with a liqueur made by monks, this cocktail will make you brave enough to have your nipple cut off (but seriously that’s a terrible idea, don’t do that)
- 1 1/2 oz dark port
- 1/2 oz Fernet-Branca
- 1/2 oz green Chartreuse
- 2 dashes angostura bitters
Stir with ice and strain into a glass over a single small ice cube.
The Translations of Missandei – A frappacino-esque drink that will loosen your tongue and keep you awake during long nights of multilingual negotiations
- 2 oz brandy
- 1/2 oz dark crème de cacao
- 1/2 oz coffee liqueur
- 1 egg white
- 1/2 oz port
Dry shake the bejeezus out of it. Shake with ice. Strain into glass.
Farewell, Hot Pie – It tastes like an apple pie. What more do you need?
- 2 oz apple brandy
- 1 whole egg
- 1/2 oz spiced apple syrup
- 1/2 oz heavy cream
Dry shake, then shake with ice; pour into glass. Top with cinnamon.
